What is AOD-9604?
It is modelled on the stretch of growth hormone numbered 176 to 191, near the end of the chain, but it is not an exact copy of that stretch: the 2000 rat study below calls it a synthetic analogue.
That 2000 rat study also looked at how the rats responded to insulin.

AOD-9604 is not growth hormone. It is a short lab-made peptide based on one stretch near the end of that much larger hormone, which is why its research centres on fat breakdown.

The AOD-9604 paper trail
The 2000 rat study ran in Hormone Research, the 2004 drug news note in Current Opinion in Investigational Drugs, and the 2026 review in Frontiers in Endocrinology. The 2004 note reports only that early human trials had begun by 2002; their outcomes are not in the PubMed record. The 2026 review also notes that the contents of products sold under these names are uncertain.
